Mid-revolution smut (revolution, Detrich and Ander Kirschen)

"Detrich," Ander groaned as the younger man pushed him back, twisted his fingers between the buttons of his shirt, "we're at a blasted barricade."

"We control this whole side of the river," Festus rasped into the too-delicate skin of his lover's throat, urgent, his breath like a furnace. Blood still slicked one of his hands. He pinned Ander against a barrel full of old vinegar, under the gutted corpse of a carriage, in the misting smell of streets and violence. "And I'd do this on top of the blasted barricade. Let the Kaiser see what I think of his guns." He shoved at Ander's trousers, grabbed for his arousal. Unrepentant, unstoppable.

Ander Kirschen was thirty years a soldier, ten of them a general. He knew more about desperate warfare at the heart of a city than he had ever wanted to, and far too much about the Kaiser's guns. But he melted in this man's hand like gold in the people's bonfire. Perhaps there was no shame in it; all the nation had.

He strangled a liquid moan against the rough fabric of a sandbag as Festus stopped, teeth still sunk a little too deep into Ander's earlobe. "Hooves," Festus muttered, halfway around the flesh. "A messenger. West."

"The university quarter?"

"Damned thing."

"You need to -"

"You need to." Festus pushed him down, settled over him, crotch over hot, straining crotch with his hand between them, relentless and urging and sublime. "When I start a thing I see it through."

This is incredibly vivid, and He pinned Ander against a barrel full of old vinegar, under the gutted corpse of a carriage, in the misting smell of streets and violence. and Perhaps there was no shame in it; all the nation had. both struck me as particularly effective lines.
